Quresha Nur | Kenya | Impossible Is Nothing

Motivational Speaker | Community Health Officer | CEO - The Diabetic Champions | CEO - Diateknia

My name is Quresha Nur [Mentor Quresha], I am a young, passionate and dedicated lady from Kenya. I am also a diabetic champion having fought and still fighting diabetes since I was 7 years old and being on insulin injections and other medications. Diabetes didn’t stand in my way of doing things and living because I got educated and recently graduated from college with a Diploma in Community Health and Development. I am extremely passionate about girls, young women and youths in Kenya and Africa as a whole and trying to make my community a better place.

I do motivational talks to young people in schools to inspire them and make them understand that education is the biggest asset that they have. I am so passionate about education especially to young girls because I come from a community where education for girls isn’t considered important but for me I believe that if you educate a girl you have educated a whole society. I am also an active community volunteer and have been taking part in different community projects in the coastal regions of Kenya.

Currently I am running my own community based organization called The Diabetic Champions where I advocate for young people and elderly who are suffering from diabetes in the community. The organization has the following objectives;

- Providing education and raising general awareness levels about diabetes.

- To respond to the needs of diabetic youth.

- Support the insulin for life campaign by raising funds to purchase insulin and other diabetic supplies for those who can’t afford it.

- Print and distribute diabetic educational materials.

- Promote a general healthy lifestyle to prevent diabetes.

- Liaise with diabetic affiliated organizations’ to achieve common goals.

What were the biggest initial hurdles and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge was, my health - besides living a normal life and wanting to achieve great things in life. My health let me down but I managed to overcome it through prayers, patience and the support of my parents, besides having a passion for education, success and prosper.

What advice would you give to an upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally?

Never downgrade your potential and talents. Yes you can achieve anything you want as long as you work on it and believe in yourself.
