Hundreds of healthcare providers and activists go above and beyond everyday for our community. The extra effort they make, the extra steps they take, and the extra care they give adds up to a big difference to the lives of the people they touch.
My journey started in Central University, in Ghana as a young student physician assistant. I often gathered my friends and course mates to organize free health screening for different communities, prisons and marketplaces. Through this I founded the Rocksons foundation, an NGO promoting health and wellness (it focuses on SDG3). During my national service, I started a social enterprise called Lamrock Agency. Lamrock Agency is a public health initiative to promote a branch of STEM but focusing on Science among young girls, empowering health personnel and educating the general public on health and wellness. Via these initiatives we were able to organize a spin off approach in spearheading: Miss Health Ghana & Women in Health Summit. Other than being involved in health, I am also dubbing in entrepreneurship or other small business adventures that I am also passionate about: a restaurant called RockWoods and a beauty salon called Beauty Avenue. I love serving, giving back and seeing people’s lives improve. I only see myself as an instrument used by God to help my community. You can’t underestimate the power of giving back when it comes to empowering other women. I am so grateful to witness upcoming female entrepreneurs who are undoubtedly inspiring out there.
What were the biggest initial hurdles and how did you overcome them?
As a matter of fact, there are always hurdles in this journey. Funding projects has been my biggest hurdle, I used to save money to save other people. What books are you currently reading? The Power of Now By Eckhart Tolle and The Secret By Rhonda Byrne
What advice would you give to an upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally Know who you are, your calling and your mission on earth, that’s the only way your plan can manifest. Have some fun when you need to and work when you have to.
