Gifty Osei Boakye Bingley is a seasoned Communications and Strategy Executive with a wealth of experience in diverse fields. Currently serving as a Senior Communications Leader at the African Union, she holds the pivotal role of Head of Public Information and Senior Communications Officer for AMISOM/ATMIS, the continent's flagship peace support operations. Gifty's journey spans both the private and public sectors, showcasing her prowess in Government Relations, Crisis Management, Public Affairs, Marketing Communications, Social Investment, and Sustainability. Her career includes influential roles such as Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at AirtelTigo Ghana, Director of Corporate Affairs at Tigo Ghana Limited, and Senior Corporate Communications Manager at Vodafone Ghana.
In her current role at the African Union, Gifty leads Strategic Communication, overseeing a dedicated team of communication and crisis management experts. Her responsibilities encompass a spectrum of functions, including Outreach Programme & Design, Press & Media Relations, Strategic Communications counsel to SLT, Digital Communications, Crisis Management, Branding, and IEC Content Design & Production.
Gifty's strategic vision extends to showcasing the mission's efforts and impact across the region, championing capacity building for Public Information Officers, and prioritizing digital channels for enhanced youth engagement.
During her tenure at Tigo Ghana, Gifty earned recognition for her transformative leadership as Director of Corporate Affairs. She played a pivotal role in changing the face of communications at Tigo, internally and externally, garnering accolades such as the Changing Lives Award at the AfricaCom Awards and Corporate Social Responsibility Practitioner of the Year at the Ghana CSR Excellence Awards.
Gifty holds a Master's degree in Global Security and Strategy from SOAS University of London, a Postgraduate Diploma in Crisis Communication and Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, and a Master's degree in Development Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Her academic journey also includes a Master of Arts (MA) in Political Communication from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from Central University.
Having started her career as a News Reporter, Production Assistant, and Script Writer at Shaft Radio 98.1, Gifty later joined TV3 Ghana, where she rose through the ranks to become the Head of News and Deputy Editor. Her notable contributions include coordinating coverage of Presidential and Parliamentary Elections and launching TV3's first morning show, "Morning TV."
