I am Elizabeth Ekua Bawa, a budding optometrist hailing from the northern region of Ghana, currently undertaking my internship at the Elmina Polyclinic. My trajectory towards becoming an optometrist has been a voyage marked by both triumphs and trials, each chapter a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit. As I reflect upon my formative years at Edinaman Senior High School, I am reminded of the doubts and apprehensions that shadowed my path. Raised in a family where the pursuit of science was a rarity, I encountered skepticism regarding my ability to navigate the demanding academic terrain. Yet, fueled by an unyielding determination to prove my mettle, I embarked on this journey with unwavering resolve.

Upon gaining admission to the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Cape Coast, I found myself confronted with a new set of obstacles—academic rigors, interpersonal conflicts, and familial obligations.
