Hi, my name is Bilan Hassan, and I am the proud founder of Unparalleled Beauty. I started this brand with a strong desire to make the beauty industry more inclusive and diverse. Our mission is to create a shift in the industry as it relates to true equity, diversity, and inclusion. At Unparalleled Beauty, we believe that beauty should be accessible to everyone. That's why we offer vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty-free cosmetics that are suitable for women of color. We don't just want to provide high-quality products; we also want to inspire positive change and make a lasting impact in our community. Our goal is to empower all women, regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, or socio-economic status. We celebrate each person's individuality and prescribe to diversified beauty standards, as opposed to the standard Western, Euro-centric ones. Creating a beauty brand that represents and caters to diverse communities was not easy. As a Black Muslim woman, I saw a lack of representation in both the beauty and business industries. I also struggled to secure funding and faced doubts from those around me. However, I was determined to make a change and push through any obstacles that came my way. I'm proud to say that Unparalleled Beauty now offers a growing range of affordable products that help all women feel confident and beautiful. Our online store makes it easy to shop for our products, and our rewards program lets you earn points towards future purchases.
Our ultimate goal is to educate, inspire, and empower women around the world. We believe that by providing high-quality, inclusive cosmetics, we can help create a more diverse and equitable beauty industry. Thank you for supporting our mission and helping us make a difference.
What were the biggest initial hurdles you faced and how did you overcome them?
I saw a lack of representation in both the beauty and business industries, which made it challenging to gain support in the beginning. However, I overcame these hurdles by remaining dedicated to my vision and pushing through any obstacles that came my way. I also leveraged my network and sought out resources that could help me bring my brand to life.
By staying focused and persistent, I was able to launch Unparalleled Beauty and make a positive impact in the industry. At UB, we believe that giving back is beautiful. That's why we are committed to making a positive impact in our community through philanthropy. A portion of our product sales will be donated to local charities and organizations that serve under-represented, marginalized, and racialized communities in Canada. We are proud to support non-profit organizations that are dedicated to creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all.

What advice do you have for young people locally and internationally who are just starting out in their careers or pursuing their passions?
My advice to young people who are just starting out in their careers or pursuing their passions is to be persistent, passionate, and open to learning. Don't be afraid to take risks and pursue your goals with dedication and enthusiasm. Network with others in your field and seek out mentorship opportunities.
Remember that failure is a part of the learning process and use it as an opportunity to grow and improve. Lastly, always stay true to your values and vision, and use your platform to create positive change in the world.
