Sylvia Maseko is a dynamic and self-driven young businesswoman hailing from Boschfontein in Mpumalanga, a rural area within the Nkomazi Municipality. Born and bred in this setting, Sylvia's journey reflects her determination and proactive approach. Starting her career as a Registered Dietician in government service, she gained valuable experience in patient care. Later, in the corporate world, Sylvia managed territories spanning Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Gauteng, and Swaziland.
Growing up with her father as the sole breadwinner, Sylvia's entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured early. Her family's small business involved selling vegetables, salt, and other items, teaching her resilience and preparation for an entrepreneurial journey. Despite facing rejection and challenges, she forged ahead, laying the foundation for her future endeavors.
Forced to attend university against financial odds, Sylvia faced the tragic loss of her mother during her final year. This loss fueled her determination to succeed and make her mother proud. Marrying at 21, Sylvia experienced hardships, including miscarriages and a stillbirth. Upholding her Christian faith in the face of cultural advice, she persevered and eventually welcomed a healthy baby boy in 2016.
In 2019, Sylvia's marriage ended, leaving her in a difficult situation. Homeless and burdened with debts, including legal fees, she faced threats to her safety. Trusting in God, she navigated these challenges, and against all odds, witnessed restoration and blessings in abundance.
Sylvia is a member of KLCBT (Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism) and SACBW (South African Council for Business Women), where she received a rookie award. Nominated for the 2023 Founder of the Year awards in Africa, she holds a Masters in Business Administration and a certificate in Project Management.
Motivated by her experiences, Sylvia founded Daisy Lee Events, encompassing the Health Excellence Organization, Medical Events, and Medi-Dieticians. Employing up to 50 young people, her company organizes various events, from social to corporate, with a commitment to exceeding client expectations.
Passionate about recognizing excellence in healthcare, Sylvia established the Health Excellence Organization. This initiative celebrates and motivates healthcare professionals, providing a platform to appreciate their contributions. Sylvia also engages in motivational talks to empower young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
