Nobesuthu Mahlangu | South Africa | Document Your Value

Content Creator | Brand Influencer | Talent Coordinator

(Passionate About Personal Branding & Labour Relations)

Nobesuthu Mahlangu’s story is one of resilience, determination, and passion for personal branding. Growing up in a small township in Pretoria, she was raised by her father after losing her mother at the tender age of five. While memories of her mom were faint, she spent much of her childhood with her dad and his friends, learning valuable lessons about life. But tragedy struck again in grade seven when her father passed away, leaving sports as her solace—a way to stay connected to his memory. Winning was a big deal in their household, and Nobesuthu learned early on the importance of always doing her best. Academically, Nobesuthu was the quiet student, a far cry from the vibrant content creator and brand influencer she is today. Inspired by her dad and his friends’ complaints about their work conditions, she pursued an honors degree in Industrial Sociology and Labour Studies, followed by a postgraduate diploma in Labour Law. Her goal was clear: to be a voice for employees in the workplace. Now working as a talent coordinator at one of South Africa's largest financial institutions, Nobesuthu is passionate about labour relations and personal branding.

But her journey wasn't without its challenges. After graduating in 2021, Nobesuthu found herself lost as the world grappled with the fallout from Covid-19. With companies shutting down and opportunities dwindling, she went door-to-door in search of internships but came up empty-handed. Then, she discovered LinkedIn. Determined to make something happen, she started creating content, posting consistently four times a week for two years. The first year was tough—little engagement, no opportunities—but Nobesuthu kept going. She clapped for herself when no one else would, knowing that consistency and patience would eventually pay off.

And pay off, it did. Today, Nobesuthu has built a thriving LinkedIn community of 80,000 people, helping 60 individuals optimize their profiles along the way. She's a Certified LinkedIn Marketing Insider, a Top 500 GradStar Awardee for 2024, and has built a newsletter with 52,000 subscribers.

Her achievements have earned her recognition as a LinkedIn Top Community Voice in Personal Branding & Content Marketing, and she’s ranked among Favikon’s Top 20 creators, standing proudly alongside figures like Cyril Ramaphosa, Mamokgethi Phakeng, and Vusi Thembekwayo—at just 24 years old, the youngest on the list.

Incredibly, Nobesuthu also started a business that allowed her to pay off her outstanding tuition fees and, to top it all off, she has landed a role at her dream company. Building her personal brand has set her apart from her peers, placing her 10 steps ahead and giving her a powerful voice to communicate her passions. Nobesuthu’s message to others is clear: start building your personal brand now.

Document your value, even if you have zero experience. There’s always someone looking up to you—just like she did when she started. Nobesuthu Mahlangu’s story is a testament to what resilience and dedication can achieve, and she's just getting started.
