Nachilala Nkombo, a multi-award-winning sustainability leader, stands at the forefront of conservation and sustainable development. Her extensive experience and global knowledge have been pivotal in driving transformative conservation programs during her role as the CEO of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Zambia. Nkombo's impact transcends geographical boundaries as she spearheads life-changing conservation initiatives, influencing agriculture, natural resources, and energy policies. Her focus extends to the governance and utilization of Zambia's abundant natural resources, crucial for both the economy and local livelihoods.


Before her tenure at WWF, Nkombo served as the Director for ONE, where she played a pivotal role in developing strategic partnerships. Her leadership led to policy change commitments at the Africa Union level and various governments, including Benin, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Malawi, South Africa, and Zambia. Her remarkable achievements include leading ONE's significant agriculture campaign in 2014, mobilizing diverse stakeholders and securing political commitments from African heads of state to boost agriculture investments and reform by 2025.


Prior to ONE, Nkombo held leadership positions at ActionAid Denmark, serving as the Africa Regional Coordinator and Zambia Country Director. Her responsibilities included overseeing programs in Kenya and Zambia, demonstrating her commitment to sustainability, capacity building, and leadership development.


As a thought leader, Nkombo actively contributes to the high-level Malabo Montpellier Panel and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs 2018 Global Food Security Report task force. These engagements highlight her dedication to shaping impactful policies and strategies for sustainable development.


In addition to her leadership roles, Nkombo has taken on part-time positions as Chairwoman of the Board at Mulonga Water and Sewerage Company and Lusaka Water Security Initiative. Her board development skills, critical thinking, and expertise in sustainability make her a valuable asset in these roles.


Nkombo's influence also extends to her involvement with The Malabo Montpellier Panel as a panel member, emphasizing her critical thinking and engagement in matters related to politics, public policy, and sustainability. In her continuous pursuit of positive change, Nkombo embodies a commitment to sustainability, environmental policy, and stakeholder engagement. Her story is one of resilience, leadership, and a relentless dedication to making a lasting impact on the world around her.
