Miro LaFlaga | Quebec | Finding My Tribe

CO-FOUNDER | CO-FONDATEUR

When it comes to pushing the boundaries of aesthetic convention, I am steadily charting new territory. I am an energetic brand strategist, based out of Montreal who doesn’t only have an acute awareness of current urban trends; I engenders a refreshingly unique perspective on the ever-evolving relationship between aesthetics, popular culture and how brands interact with them. I launched my own design firm, Six Cinquième in 2018, I am on a mission to help startups and emerging artists find their own digital voices. Constantly fusing elements of classic and contemporary, I strive to integrate my distinctive aesthetic outlook into the creative works of the diverse array of businesses I collaborate with on a custom-tailored, case-by-case basis.

What were the biggest initial hurdles and how did you overcome them?

My biggest hurdle during my journey was finding my tribe. Throughout, I always felt lonely because it was extremely hard to find others who understood what I was trying to accomplish. I overcome this by being genuinely curious about other people. The reason I always felt lonely is because I didn’t make an effort to support others and meet people, I was entitled and felt people should just support me because my work was amazing. That's the wrong way to view the world.

What books are you currently reading?

I haven't been reading as much to be honest. It is something I need to get back into.

What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started?

My instincts are never wrong.

What advice would you give to an upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally?

As cliche as it sounds, nobody knows what they are doing. We are children trying to figure it out and pretending like we know what we are doing.
