Matt Jozwiak | USA | Kitchen & Repurpose

CEO | Founder of Rethink Food & Rethink Services

Matt Jozwiak is a visionary who turned his passion for food into a mission to reshape the world. After spending over a decade cooking in some of the world’s top restaurants, he witnessed an unsettling truth—tons of perfectly good food was being wasted while millions went hungry. This sparked an idea that would change lives. In 2016, Matt made a bold move, leaving his post at the celebrated Eleven Madison Park restaurant in New York to focus his attention and skills on feeding people in need. In partnership with his former boss, renowned chef Daniel Humm, Matt launched Rethink Food. This groundbreaking organization collects excess food from restaurants, grocery stores, and corporate kitchens and repurposes it to create nutritious meals for those facing food poverty.

As the COVID-19 pandemic ravaged communities, Rethink Food quickly scaled up, providing hundreds of thousands of meals to those in need. Under Matt’s leadership, the organization is now developing a franchise model that connects local restaurants with their neighborhoods, helping the 42 million Americans who face food insecurity each year.

Matt's commitment to reimagining how food can serve communities extends to the next generation as well. He believes in involving young people in using gastronomy as a force for positive change, ensuring that the future of food is not just about what we eat but how it can uplift and sustain communities.

From the kitchens of Michelin-starred restaurants to the streets of New York City, Matt Jozwiak is redefining what it means to be a chef in today’s world—one meal, one community, and one act of rethinking food at a time.
