It was here, while working at a Michelin-starred restaurant nestled in a grand converted palace, that she discovered her deep-seated love for high cuisine. This formative experience ignited a fire within her, propelling her towards a future of culinary greatness. Upon her return to Spain, Lara joined forces with the renowned two-star Michelin chef Nacho Manzano. This collaboration was a pivotal moment in her career, as she honed her skills and embraced the rich traditions of Asturian cuisine. Lara’s innovative spirit led her to blend these traditional flavors with international influences, creating dishes that captivated both the eye and the palate. Her bold and imaginative approach quickly garnered critical acclaim, marking her as a rising star in the culinary world.


The zenith of Lara’s journey came in late 2018 when she took the reins of Restaurant Kraken Art Food, located within the aquarium of Gijón. Her creative prowess and unforgettable flavors propelled the restaurant to the top, earning it the title of Best Restaurant in Spain in 2022. This accolade was a testament to Lara’s remarkable talent and vision.


In 2023, Lara embarked on her most ambitious venture yet with the opening of Abarike. This groundbreaking restaurant, celebrated for its commitment to sustainability and innovative approach, received Michelin recognition just six months after its debut. At Abarike, Lara pushes the boundaries of gastronomy, offering diners a 360-degree culinary experience where the artistry of food preparation is on full display.


Lara's impressive list of accolades includes being named Chef of the Year 2020 by Worldchefs, receiving the Caldereta Don Calixto in 2021, and being recognized as a Cocinero Revelación (Revelation Chef) in the same year. Her restaurant’s inclusion in Tapas Magazine’s New Best Openings of 2024 further solidifies her status as a visionary in the culinary world.
