Kelis Rogers | USA | Life Is Too Short!

Grammy-Nominated Singer & Songwriter | Le Cordon Bleu-Trained Chef

Founder of Bounty & Full

Kelis Rogers' life is a rich blend of music, food, and an unstoppable drive for creativity. Known globally as a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter, Kelis didn't just conquer the music industry—she redefined herself by diving headfirst into the culinary world, blending her love for food and adventure with her artistic spirit. Growing up in Harlem, New York, with a fashion designer mother and jazz musician father, creativity was practically in her DNA. At just 17, she signed her first record deal, and her music career took off with the debut album Kaleidoscope in 1999. Songs like “Milkshake” and “Bossy” became pop culture anthems, making her a household name. Despite her rise, Kelis navigated the challenges of being a young Black woman in the music industry with resilience. Her journey in music reflected her determination and boldness, pushing boundaries and earning her a dedicated fan base. But while the world knew her as a pop star, Kelis had another passion simmering beneath the surface—food. After a decade in the spotlight, she took a bold step away from music and enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, where she honed her skills and emerged as a chef with a flavor for adventure. This wasn’t just a career shift—it was a return to her roots, a space where creativity, comfort, and culture came together in the kitchen. In 2015, she brought that passion to life with Bounty & Full, her own line of gourmet sauces. These sauces were more than just condiments—they were a reflection of the bold and exotic flavors she had encountered during her global travels. For Kelis, Bounty & Full wasn’t just about selling sauces; it was about connecting with people through the universal language of taste.

Kelis took her culinary expertise beyond the kitchen and into the spotlight once again. She hosted popular shows like Food Network’s Saucy & Sweet and Holiday Feast with Kelis, where her vibrant personality and bold flavors captivated audiences. Her talents caught the attention of major outlets like BBC, Vice, and CNN, turning her into a go-to culinary expert.

But perhaps her most groundbreaking role came as the host of Netflix’s Cooked with Cannabis. Here, Kelis blended her culinary skills with her desire to challenge norms, using cannabis as an ingredient to break down stigmas and celebrate its healing and joyful properties.

Not content with just television, Kelis took her food on the road, creating pop-up restaurants, food trucks, and more, always finding new ways to share her love of flavor. Her passion for food extended to her home life as well—she purchased a farm in Southern California, where she grows her own ingredients, raises livestock, and handcrafts beyond-organic products. Her farm-to-table approach is a testament to her commitment to quality and sustainability.

Kelis’ journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, shaped by her mother’s influence as a chef and her years on the road as a touring musician. From high-energy performances to baking bread and experimenting with new recipes on her farm, she proves that life is too short for anything less than excellence.

Whether she’s making music, whipping up sauces, or exploring the next culinary frontier, Kelis lives by her mantra: "Life is too short for bad food and bad music." Her story is one of constant reinvention, where music, food, and creativity collide, inspiring others to pursue their passions, no matter where they lead.
