Ify Mogekwu, known to her fans as the "Kitchen Queen," is no ordinary chef. With a passion for food that started back in her secondary school days, she has transformed her love for cooking into a thriving career, winning hearts and taste buds across the globe. Ifeyinwa Mogekwu, or Ify, is a multi-award-winning culinary expert, TV cooking show host, YouTuber, and a social media sensation who is all about demystifying the art of cooking. Born with a natural curiosity and a love for spirited conversations, Ify initially pursued a career in law. She attended the University of Ibadan, where she earned a second-class upper degree in law, followed by a similar accolade from the Abuja Campus of the Nigerian Law School. She later became a Senior Counsel at ACAS-Law, one of Lagos' top law firms. But while she thrived in the courtroom, her heart always found its way back to the kitchen. Ify's culinary journey began in the most unexpected way—during a home economics class in secondary school, where her jollof rice was so good that it was served to the school principal. That moment sparked a passion that would eventually lead to the creation of "Ify’s Kitchen," a platform that has turned everyday cooking into an adventure. Ify’s Kitchen isn’t just about recipes; it’s about bringing families together through the magic of good food.

What makes Ify stand out is her ability to make even the most complicated Nigerian dishes feel like a breeze. From sandwiches and desserts to soups and stews, she’s got it all covered. Her vibrant personality and easy-to-follow recipes have earned her a loyal following on social media, where she’s known for sharing mouth-watering dishes and promoting kitchen products. Ify’s warmth and relatability have made her a favorite among food lovers, especially those looking for inspiration in the kitchen.

In 2021, after over a decade of practicing law, Ify made a bold move—she decided to fully embrace her culinary passion. She now dedicates her time to being a food content creator, TV cooking show host, entrepreneur, social media influencer, and most importantly, a mother of two and a wife. Balancing these roles is no easy feat, but Ify handles it all with grace, creativity, and a dash of humor.

Her food philosophy? Simple: use the freshest ingredients to create nutritious, visually pleasing, and delicious meals. Ify’s top five ingredients—onions, butter, pepper, ginger, and garlic—reflect her love for bold flavors. Growing up, her mother’s culinary curiosity exposed her to a mix of traditional Nigerian dishes and experimental cuisines from other cultures. It’s no wonder that her childhood favorites, like pounded yam with ofe Nsala and her mother’s famous moinmoin, still hold a special place in her heart.

For Ify, cooking is more than just a skill—it’s an art form, and she’s passionate about sharing that art with others. She’s also a strong advocate for young Nigerian chefs gaining international exposure to expand their skills and networks. Safety and hygiene are her non-negotiables in the kitchen, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and stays delicious. When she’s not creating in the kitchen, Ify loves to unwind with a good book or movie, often surrounded by the calming scent of candles. She’s an avid reader, always seeking ways to better herself, whether it’s through self-development books or losing herself in fiction.

Ify’s advice to anyone chasing their dreams? Start with what you have and grow from there. She’s living proof that it’s never too late to pursue your passion, even if it means sacrificing a little sleep along the way. Her journey from the courtroom to the kitchen is a testament to the power of following your heart and balancing multiple passions with dedication and enthusiasm.
