George Goldston | USA | Personalized Treatment Plans

Licensed Marriage | Family Therapist | Consultant

George Goldston has walked through life's winding paths with a deep sense of purpose. From overcoming personal battles with homophobia, anxiety, and attention problems to forging meaningful connections through therapy, George has always been driven by a mission: to help others live their most authentic lives. His journey began with his own struggles, moments of feeling overwhelmed and stuck. But George didn’t let these moments define him. Instead, he sought out new ways to look at the world, learning techniques that would change his life for the better. Communicating more effectively, managing anxiety, focusing his energy, and—perhaps most importantly—accepting himself became the cornerstone of his transformation. Now, he dedicates himself to helping others find their own path to peace and self-acceptance. This mission led George to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, further solidifying his commitment to supporting others. Along the way, he earned certifications in Ecopsychology and Intercultural Communication, expanding his knowledge and approach to therapy. But beyond the qualifications, George brings something even more powerful to the table: his lived experience. He knows what it feels like to struggle and emerge on the other side, and he uses this understanding to guide his clients with empathy and insight.

George's career is a testament to his unwavering dedication. Since 2018, he has been a therapist at Acceptance Wellness in Johns Island, South Carolina, where he provides assessments, treatment plans, and ongoing counseling sessions. He skillfully navigates the complexities of HIPAA compliance while also managing the business side of things—keeping books, schedules, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. George’s competence shines as he tailors therapy modalities and interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.

Before settling into Acceptance Wellness, George worked at Alliance Counseling at The Center at Heron Hill in Canby, Oregon. Here, he collaborated with a diverse treatment team, including family therapists, equine therapists, and skill builders, to provide comprehensive care. Whether it was CBT, ACT, mindfulness, or Ecotherapy, George adapted his approach to ensure his clients received the best possible care.

His expertise extends even further back to his time at Wolf Pack Consulting and Therapeutic Services, where he focused on serving LGBTQIA2+ and multicultural families. George approached each client with curiosity, creating personalized treatment plans that honored their individual experiences. His dedication to cultural responsiveness and inclusive communication was evident as he helped trans clients navigate sensitive assessments for hormone replacement therapy, attended weekly trainings on trauma, and maintained constant communication with his clients to ensure their satisfaction.

But George’s journey isn’t limited to the therapy room. Before diving into mental health, he spent five years as a freelance videographer and editor, working on everything from weddings to promotional videos for small businesses. He even coordinated video production for the Patriots Point Development Authority, telling the stories of veterans for advocacy and promoting the museum at over 50 festivals and events.

Outside of his professional life, George enjoys the simpler things: spending time with his partner and pups, Coco and Mushu, indulging in trivia nights with friends, and escaping into reality TV. He understands that life is about balance, and he brings this philosophy into his work as a therapist. Whether it’s helping clients overcome their struggles or finding joy in his own day-to-day moments, George Goldston is committed to living—and helping others live—a hopeful and authentic life.
