Hi there! My name is Emmanuel Edem Smith, but you may know me better by my brand name, MC Smiling Smith. I am a versatile MC who is passionate about making every event a memorable one. I specialize in Events, Radio & TV Production, Acting, Voice over Artistry, and of course, Master of Ceremonies. I have had the pleasure of starring in various television series such as L&G, Moni n Phame, XOXO, MultiKolored, Buddy Language, as well as in TV commercials, including the first brand ambassador for MTN Mobile Money, Perfecto Noodles, Nunu Milk, Enterprise Life Insurance, Sivoderm Soap, Ashfoam, and Access Bank (change your level promo). I was also formerly the brand ambassador for Hubtel and Sensei Clothing & Channay Apparel. Over the years, I have had the honor of hosting various events such as Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Kids Parties, Conferences, Awards Gala Nights, Beauty Pageants, Anniversaries, Wedding Receptions & Fun Parks. Notably, I hosted the 2014 World Cup Fun Park at the Accra Mall throughout the tournament and consistently hosted the Ghana Events Industry Conference and Awards from 2019 until now (2022). I have even had the opportunity to host celebrity wedding receptions for renowned artistes Becca and Trigmatic.
Additionally, I hosted Miss Ghana 2019, 2020, 2021 Talent Show, Fashion Show, and Grand Finale. I am honored to be one of the best-rated MCs in the events industry, and I have successfully handled events with thousands of crowds. I am a multi-nominated award winner, including being recognized as GEIC Special Recognition 2022, Best Event MC of The Year 2022 (GEIC), and MC of The Year 2022 (AWEMA). I have special skills in Voice Over Coaching, Audio-Visual Production, and Acting. My expertise lies in hosting events such as Wedding Receptions, Corporate, Birthday Parties, Kids Parties, Conferences, Awards Gala Nights, Beauty Pageants, Anniversaries, and Fun Parks.
What were the biggest initial hurdles you faced and how did you overcome them?
I am Emmanuel Edem Smith, a versatile MC who faced numerous challenges when starting my career. One of the biggest hurdles was building my brand and establishing myself as a reliable and trusted MC. Finding clients was also difficult in the beginning.
To overcome these obstacles, I surrounded myself with the right people, started small, learned from my mistakes, and dedicated myself to my work with passion. I also utilized my talents in acting, radio and TV production, and voice-over artistry to enhance my profile and expand my network. Through persistence and hard work, I have become one of the most highly-rated MCs in the events industry, hosting various high-profile events such as celebrity weddings and beauty pageants.
What advice do you have for young people locally and internationally who are just starting out in their careers or pursuing their passions?
As someone who has faced and overcome several initial hurdles in my career, my advice to young people locally and internationally who are just starting out in their careers or pursuing their passions is to surround themselves with the right people, start small, learn from their mistakes, and stay dedicated to their work with passion.
It is also important to leverage one's talents and skills, and to network and build relationships within their industry. Persistence and hard work are key to achieving success, and one should never give up on their dreams or aspirations.
