Hello! I'm Ely Honkpo, a Creative Director and Photographer from Atlanta, Georgia. I've been in the photography industry since 2016, specializing in fashion portrait photography. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to shoot for top brands such as Coach, Hollister, Journey's, FashionNova, and conceptualized shoots for Fila, Marc Jacobs, Nike, and Burberry. My ultimate goal is to inspire and encourage the leaders of tomorrow, the youth, to pursue their dreams and show them that anything is possible.
What were the biggest initial hurdles and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges I've faced in my career was learning to recognize my worth as an artist and how to turn my disadvantages into strengths. I remained true to myself and my work, and I learned to differentiate between individuals who value and appreciate my work versus those who do not. Although it was a difficult experience, I am grateful for it, as it taught me valuable lessons. I also learned to use my limitations to my advantage, and to find creative ways to exploit the strengths of my circumstances, to produce the best results possible.
What advice do you for upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally?
My advice to young entrepreneurs and artists is to remain authentic in your work, identity, and personal values. Remember who you are, what you stand for, and who you aspire to be. It's important to be mindful of the energy you surround yourself with, as it can have a significant impact on your day-to-day life. Believe in yourself and your abilities, and don't let fear hold you back. Always trust your instincts and have faith in your journey.
