Anishinaabe Interior Designer | Entrepreneur
Textile Designer | Owner at Indigo Arrows
Destiny Seymour, an Anishinaabe interior designer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a visionary who has transformed the world of interior design by weaving Indigenous history into modern home decor. With a master’s degree in Interior Design from the University of Manitoba, Destiny began her career at a local architecture firm, where she spent over a decade refining her craft. But her true passion emerged when she recognized the need for design materials that honored and reflected the rich cultural heritage of Manitoba's Indigenous peoples.
In 2016, she took a bold step and launched her own design company, Indigo Arrows. Destiny set out to create artisan textiles that bring to life the ancient patterns found in local Indigenous pottery and bone tools, some dating back over 3,000 years.
Her designs aren't just beautiful; they are deeply meaningful, carrying the stories and traditions of her ancestors into contemporary spaces. Indigo Arrows' stunning range of table linens, pillows, and blankets are not just decor items—they are pieces of history reimagined for modern homes.
In addition to her work with Indigo Arrows, Destiny shares her passion for design as a Sessional Instructor in the Environmental Design Program at the University of Manitoba. Through teaching, she continues to inspire the next generation of designers to think beyond aesthetics and embrace the cultural narratives that shape our environments.
Destiny Seymour is more than an interior designer; she is a cultural storyteller, an innovator, and a force for change in the design world. Through her work, she seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, proving that the past can beautifully influence the present.
