I am from South Carolina. I am an artist known for my soulful sound and expressive lyrics. I started as a stand - up comic and transitioned into not only a singer / rapper but also credited as a screenwriter, songwriter, and actor. This transition into music is to shine the light on the darker stuff I was feeling. In my music I really push mental health, the goal is to help people who can relate and who feel as though they aren't alone. And importantly and musically, a gift to remind myself and everyone as well as not to hold on those feelings in - instead bring them out. I am also known for blending genres, I like crafting a mixture of hip - hop, R & B, alternatives, indie, country / folk, rock, and EDM throughout my discography.
What were the biggest initial hurdles and how did you overcome them?
Really just myself honestly, if not just my moods or my mental health then just my constant fight staying positive in my work. I'm really anti me a lot of times and struggle with confidence which makes me feel like giving up a lot of the times.
What books are you currently reading?
Nothing huge. I'm big into comics so I'm just speeding through a lot of marvel and DC switching back and forth. I'm openly a nerd.
What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started?
Not to take things so seriously and just at least try
What advice would you give to an upcoming youth or talents locally and internationally?
Ignore everyone and just make and or do what you think is best. At one point I tried making what I thought people would like and did what I thought people would do but in terms of art especially music you as the creator will hear it so much more than anyone else so make something you want to hear.
