Driven by a desire to make a difference, the story of Areej Alshaibani is one of perseverance, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. From humble beginnings to leadership roles in pivotal institutions, her journey is a testament to the transformative power of curiosity, adaptability, and continuous learning. From the very beginning, Areej’s deep passion for Human Resource Development shaped the trajectory of her remarkable life. Fueled by insatiable curiosity for new developments in HR and technology, she embarked on a mission to revolutionize the way organizations operate and nurture talent. Her career took off with impactful leadership roles in Oman’s most significant institutions, including serving as the Director of Human Resource Development at the Information Technology Authority and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Technology. Here, she played a pivotal role in merging entities with over 2,800 employees, laying the groundwork for success through initiatives in Talent Strategy, Change Management, Organizational Culture, and Employee Engagement. Currently, as Senior Manager of Talent Planning and Mobility at Omantel, Areej leads a strategic talent management department committed to fostering a growth mindset and driving career development. Through succession planning and internal mobility strategies, she is building a high-performing, future-ready workforce that ensures business continuity and excellence.


Her expertise extends beyond organizational walls. She led a groundbreaking strategy project, Mastering Succession Planning for C-Level Suites, impacting over 18 companies across the Sultanate of Oman. In 2023, her expertise reached global heights when she served as a board advisor to a Singaporean company at the forefront of AI-driven HR tech services.


Never one to shy away from a challenge, Areej pursued a Master’s Degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Cranfield University, with a thesis exploring The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on HR Development. This journey deepened her understanding of the transformative potential of AI, Virtual Reality, Big Data, and cloud technology in HR.


In addition to her master’s, she earned certifications in Agile Change Management, Talent Management, Strategic Planning, and Leadership Inside Out, equipping her to lead transformative initiatives in Succession Planning, Career Development, Performance Management, and ROI-driven projects.


Areej’s dedication to fostering a culture of learning and development has earned her significant accolades. Recognized as one of the Top 20 Young Achievers in the GCC region by the Government Youth Summit in 2021, she has also been named a Global Skills Development Council Mentor in 2023.


In the same year, she received the Oman Women Leader Award from the World Women Leadership Congress and was honored as Emerging Women Leader of the Year - Telecom at the MARA Excellence Awards.


As a sought-after international speaker, Areej has shared her insights on HR, Change Management, and Digital Transformation at global conferences, connecting with leaders and gaining invaluable perspectives. Reflecting on her journey, Areej offers sage advice: “Never stop learning and remain adaptable. Challenges are steppingstones to growth, and every setback is an opportunity for a comeback.”
