Angela Mensah-Poku has left an indelible mark on the technology landscape, particularly in Ghana, where her career journey began. With a career spanning over 15 years at Vodafone Ghana, Angela's contributions have not only transformed the company but have also left a lasting impact on the telecommunications industry in the country. In 2009, Angela stepped into the role of Chief of Staff to the CEO at Vodafone Ghana, marking her return to her homeland following Vodafone's acquisition of Ghana Telecom. Her extensive experience gained at British Telecom in the UK served as a foundation for her dynamic approach to leadership. Over the years, Angela held key positions, including Head of Fixed Services, Head of Corporate Sales, Director for Vodafone Business Solutions, Managing Director of Vodafone Wholesale, and, most recently, Director for Digital and Commercial Operations.
Throughout these roles, Angela's leadership played a pivotal role in driving both commercial and operational excellence. Her teams achieved numerous industry firsts, highlighting her innovative and transformative impact. Notably, Angela was a key player in the Brand Refresh for Vodafone Business in 2013, showcasing her dedication, enthusiasm, and loyalty. Angela's journey at Vodafone Ghana culminated in her role as Director for Digital Transformation and Commercial Operations.
In this capacity, she championed the company-wide digital transformation agenda, introducing cutting-edge technologies such as ToBi, AI Chatbot, and My Vodafone App. Under her leadership, Vodafone Ghana experienced accelerated commercial growth and digital efficiency.
Even during the challenges posed by the pandemic, Angela's leadership shone brightly. She prioritized the safety of frontline employees while ensuring the continuity of critical customer operations. Her hands-on approach, including accompanying engineers on visits, exemplified her commitment to leading from the front during times of adversity. Beyond her corporate endeavors, Angela emerged as a key advocate for Women in STEM (WiSTEM) through personal mentorship and support for the WiSTEM Programme at KNUST. Her exceptional contributions earned her prestigious awards, including recognition at the Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) in 2019 and 2020.
Angela Mensah-Poku holds an MSc in Information Systems and a BSc in Politics. Her commitment to lifelong learning is evident in her completion of the Executive Leadership Programme at the London Business School and an Executive Programme in Service Automation.
