Aline Nizigama, CEO of YWCA Canada, embodies resilience, empathy, and visionary leadership. Her journey, from being a former refugee to spearheading one of Canada's foremost organizations advocating for gender equity, anti-racism, and empathy, is nothing short of inspiring. With a career spanning over a decade in non-profit leadership, Aline has honed her skills in public policy, community development, and project management. Her commitment to serving equity-deserving groups, particularly Francophone and multilingual communities, as well as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, stems from her deep understanding of the systemic challenges they face. Aline recognizes that addressing issues like misogyny and racism requires systemic solutions, which she actively pursues through partnerships and coalitions.


Aline's educational background further enriches her expertise. Holding a Master's in Public Policy from the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, she has cultivated a comprehensive understanding of governance, social determinants of health, and policy implementation. Her academic achievements, including prestigious scholarships, reflect her dedication to advancing social justice.


Beyond her professional endeavors, Aline's commitment to community service is exemplary. As a former President and Chair of the Board of Directors at Margaret's Housing and Community Support Services, she played a pivotal role in providing supportive housing options to marginalized women.


Additionally, her leadership as Chair of the Board at Haguruka Burundian Women's Association underscores her passion for economic empowerment and social inclusion.In her role as CEO of YWCA Canada, Aline champions intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and reconciliation.


She amplifies the voices of the YWCA movement, prioritizing issues such as urban/rural considerations and bridging linguistic divides. Aline's vision for Canada is one of inclusivity, diversity, and equality—a future she tirelessly strives to achieve through her advocacy, leadership, and unwavering commitment to social change.
