Emmanuel Quainoo Otoo | Ghana | The Young Shall Grow!

As an entrepreneur and a blogger, I truly appreciate what it takes to be a successful blogger and making that leap from “just a blogger” to “a profitable blogger” in Ghana. My name is Emmanuel Quainoo Otoo, but known professionally as UrsTruly Praiz. I am based in Accra, Ghana. Being a blogger has its ups and downs, but yet I am grateful for the journey. There were no promises when I started re: overnight success. But the world needs kindness and goodness in people. That is one of the reasons why I made this my calling. I want to use my words to build, encourage but not to destroy because our tongue is considered one of the most powerful tools. I have been grateful to have worked for or with personalities like: DJ switch, Pan African TV, Gloria Sarfo, DebbyQueen, Fella Makafui, DKB Ghana, DRCRYME, Elikem (a prominent designer), Icon health system and VERNA mineral water etc. Each day, I try to master and distinguish myself from the crowd as an expert in what I do. While everyone is talking about social media, I want to be talking about social media tools and how to use them to my full potential. My goal is to approach blogging from a drama zone to a place for personal growth and collaboration. In other words, turning our dark, timid, fearful image into a lively, original, sparkling personality for readers to love.

What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?

I had few hurdles raising initial capital for my website . However, I ended up settling up for an amateur blogspot while I worked hard to bootstrap for my first professional website.

What books are you currently reading? And your recommendation for entrepreneurs to read?

I have read "No Excuses" and the "Twelve laws of life" and a great recommendation for any entrepreneur out there.

Did you ever deal with contention from your family and friends concerning your entrepreneurial pursuits?

How did you handle it? What would you do differently in hindsight?

In the beginning, yes I had few family members who were not in favor of my occupational and career choice or path. They made it clear that it was a waste of time. Instead, they would rather advise me to focus on my education etc. Fast forward, God being so good 3 years and counting I have over 10 awards and over 20 citations in my name.

What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business success?

My single most influential factor is my utmost focus and doing things the right way.

What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur? Time and time again I have come to that realization and understand that people praise or condemn you under their own discretion regardless of your action. Therefore, as a blogger or entrepreneur you ought to keep yourself grounded and keep your head up. Just make sure not to focus or dwell on public criticism and judgemental approach made towards you.

What advice would you give to an upcoming entrepreneur locally and internationally?

To upcoming entrepreneurs, seek God first and do what works for you but do it the right way. Focus on your craft, because the young shall grow.
