Dr. Jason | California | Stay Committed!!

I began my Theragun journey in 2008 after suffering from constant debilitating pain caused by injuries I sustained from a severe motorcycle accident. The pain that was associated with the injury was so intense and unrelenting that it led me to seek for something to make that pain go away. That need led me to discover percussive therapy, it helped me with my pain. I began using this new device on my patients, from pro athletes to everyday people, with amazing results and it grew from there. I am proud to say that Theragun is now used globally by more than 250 Pro Sports teams and some of the most successful athletes on the planet, in addition to its implementation by thousands of physical therapists, chiropractors, and trainers. My breakthrough research protocols in muscle activation, recovery and pain relief has made Theragun the world leader in percussive neuromuscular treatment and is revealing an even broader spectrum of benefits from high-frequency percussive therapy. Since our inception as a company I have traveled around the world personally presenting our groundbreaking product and it’s application to professional and consumer audiences across the health and wellness landscape. Inspiring people to take accountability for their own health and well-being through the use of this product has become my life’s mission.

What ignited the spark in you to start a new business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?

From my motorcycle accident in late 2007 and the injuries and pain, I was having. Through self-treating and rehabbing myself coupled with my passion for learning the body and how it functions gave me a deep need and drive to understand this thing (percussion) that I discovered, in a very organic way.

What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?

Being away from my children was a big one. Also getting people to believe in what I was trying to do. Pain and fear were very big hurdles but also propelled me to where I am.

What books are you currently reading? And your recommendation for entrepreneurs to read?

The 50th Law sits next to my bed. The Secret. The Calcium Lie. Extreme Ownership. Motivation Manifesto. I read many books about anatomy and physiology. I spend a lot of time studying anatomy and the relationship between movement, joints and muscles.

Did you ever deal with contention from your family and friends concerning your entrepreneurial pursuits? How did you handle it? What would you do differently in hindsight?

Absolutely! Many people thought I was crazy both family members and friends.

Once I realized people would have to see proof of my vision to believe my vision things were a little easier to handle.

And, I was 800 miles away from my children and received a lot of criticism from a lot of people about that.

Not to sound idealistic but my journey has been amazing and I wouldn't change a thing.

What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business success?

Believing in my vision and meeting my current business partner, Ben. Staying to committed to my vision even when others doubted me.

What do you know today that you wish you would have known when you first got started as an entrepreneur?

That challenges are like a slingshot; the further back you are pulled, the more resistance you receive, the further you will launch after you endure and triumph over that resistance or challenge.

What advice would you give to an upcoming entrepreneur locally and internationally?

Believe and trust yourself and your vision. Visions come true as long as you are willing to pay the price and sometimes the price is unbearable. Stay committed. Be kind and generous as you build your “brand”.
