I am André Musgrove, a Scuba Diving Instructor and Freediver, specializing in underwater photography & cinematography. I am based in Nassau, Bahamas, which affords me easy, unlimited access to the ocean to embark on new adventures and capture amazing moments. My passion for freelance photography & videography, underwater filming & editing, spearfishing and freediving allows me to live my life consumed by the ocean and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My passion for the ocean and my creativity sparked my interest in creating and shooting concepts underwater that are different from the norm. By incorporating free divers (people) coexisting with marine animals or in the marine environment to create never before seen concepts. My idea for my business came about because my country is popular for conducting underwater films or photoshoots however there is hardly any actual Bahamian Underwater cameraman here. I saw that it was an opening for a locally based and born underwater cameraman to be able to do some great work and represent his country with pride using local knowledge and experience.

What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?

An initial hurdle was find the correct information on how to go about this journey finding the correct equipment or tips to help be successful in the field.

What books are you currently reading? And your recommendation for entrepreneurs to read?

A book that I try to read daily is the Holy Bible, its where I get most of my motivation from to keep going and stay on the right path.

Did you ever deal with contention from your family and friends concerning your entrepreneurial pursuits? How did you handle it? What would you do differently in hindsight?

I was always supported by my family and friends to follow my passion and to let it take care of me. Finding a need and filling it to me is the basis of any successful business and that what I strive to accomplish.

What advice would you give to an upcoming entrepreneur locally and internationally?

For any upcoming entrepreneurs my best advice would be to stay focus on the end goal and what you want to accomplish in the end, don.t let the short term problems distract you from that or the mindset of other around you, block it out and keep looking forward.
